The SPORTident system is comprised of two basic elements: SI-Stations and SI-Cards. Stations are placed on the course. Each SI-Station has a unique control number. Every orienteer carries a SPORTident Card which records the time and the control number as the athlete passes the SI-Stations during the competition.
After the competition, the SPORTident Card holds the orienteer's start-finish time, split times as well as all control numbers. This data is used to evaluate the competition.
